about maya bolsens

Since I was young I always felt a strong connection with clay. Growing up in a small town next to old brickworks, one could always find me in clay pits salvaging shark teeth.

The scent of a freshly opened pack of clay evokes that happy memory.

Working as a fashion stylist my entire life spurred me to play with colors and shapes and rethink compositions, a know-how I now transfer to ceramics. Holding on to my inner child, I shape unique objects mainly inspired by the concept of dualism, nature and life itself. The interaction between soft and structured, the contrast between dark and light...  Nature taking over again after human interference, a coincidental stacking or even the beauty of trash can make my heart flutter.

In my Antwerp based studio nothing goes to waist, materials are carefully recycled and reused where possible.

All my pieces are one of a kind and handmade with a lot of love and attention.

Please feel free to contact me for made to order pieces or subscribe for a 'simular product heads-up' if your favorite one is sold.
